Checking out posting

Haven't posted in a couple of years, heard a rumor that they're going to be cleaning out unused accounts. I mostly use this one to comment on other people's posts, does that count?

Seven Songs Meme

Got this from Tim H -- my first meme ever. This might be a little weird.

Handlebars - Flobots
I Will Possess Your Heart - Death Cab for Cutie
You Can't Stop the Beat - Hairspray
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
I Feel Fantastic - Jonathan Coulton
Clocks (and a bunch of other stuff) - Coldplay
Confessions Part III - Weird Al Yankovic

That is a somewhat atypical list for me, the Coldplay thing is because of their 30 days of Coldplay on XM and at least a couple of those songs are there because my kids make me hear them (and one was on TV).

Shaw Cable deal

We got a good deal on our cable package -- it's like 40% off, Shaw Extreme internet and a bunch of channels (but not the movie channel). We heard about it on Red Flag Deals web page. You have to be a student, though, but I get free tuition (which is also a good deal, but I didn't get that one from RFD.) I like this deal 'cuz it just keeps on, every month...

Back at work

Wow, I was working at another library, then off for a couple of months with the baby, and I just noticed I haven't posted since, like, 2005. Scary.

Linux is working

Yeah, got some new (to us) hardware and put some stuff together, so I now have a reasonably smokin' Linux box that I can access from wherever.

Also, in other news, I pretty much never up date my LiveJournal.

Finally fixed my SSH

Was probably a port thing, or maybe my router's settings. Anyway, updating my router's firmware (thus clearing all my old tangled spaghetti settings) + routing an external port to 22 on my Linux box (thus defeating my ISP's block of port 22) did the trick.

Mostly, except that one of the machines I SSH in from doesn't do reverse lookup properly -- auth.log lists it as a possible breakin attempt and I just get "No further authentication methods available" when I try to connect. :-( If there's anyway I can fix that, someone let me know...
